For this dissertation we are going to explore the era, the contemporary and our relationship with seeing. Today, the term “contemporary” is widely used and has almost become a trend. What’s more, we are currently living in a society where the image is omnipresent. In entering the digital era, we have seen new technologies emerge and social networks proliferate. Now everything is shown and everything is seen, which can have significant consequences on human beings. As such, by focusing on the era, the idea is to see how it is characterised and defined and how contemporaries have taken part in it. The subsequent aim is to identify the contemporaries of our era, which could be referred to as the era of the image.
