Despite what we might think, craftsmanship is a very active sector. However, it is facing a host of challenges in order to keep up-to-date. The example of a small French production unit illustrates the difficulties that today’s craftspeople can face and allows us to imagine the possibilities for those of tomorrow. New technologies and a new generation of enthusiasts are helping to find solutions for this transition. Designers are key stakeholders in this reinvention and will undoubtedly contribute to the emergence of a new form of craftsmanship.
