What would the world be without faces? A world where we were unable to put a face to a name, a world without this element of identity unique to each person. It is difficult to imagine, as even the first humans had a face and it has an important role in the representations of the different civilisations that have followed on from one another. It is generally accepted that we all know what a face is. It seems natural, innate, as obvious as the other parts of the body. And yet, something makes it entirely singular: it is the interface between the outer world and our sensations, our emotions and our innermost feelings, it is an essential element of communication and our adaptation to the world.
