This dissertation focuses on how to find our own rhythm in an accelerating society. By examining the role of artists in this dissertation through artworks from the 18th to the 20th centuries, we explore the relationship between artists and society, in order to better understand how they lived with this speed, to ultimately provide answers to our central questions: Can artists therefore give us the means to respond to the issue of acceleration? And do they truly succeed in appropriating the problem of acceleration?
